Brian Robinson is Leader of the Software Development Improvement Program (SDIP) at ABB Inc. He received the PhD degree in computer science from Case Western Reserve University in 2008. In his role with SDIP, he is responsible for improving ABB's software development activities, including the creation of global policy for ABB software development units, identification of key issues in current development practice, methods and techniques to address key issues, training materials and metrics to track actual improvements achieved by the teams. Previously, Brian served as technical lead and project manager of ABB's research program in software engineering, and he still works on researching solutions to key issues that arise in industrial software development, whether they originate from engineers or upper management. His recent activities include serving on the steering committee for ISSRE, on the program committee for ICSE 2016, on the editorial board for Empirical Software Engineering, and as the Industry Track Co-Chair for ICSME 2017.
